NBCSports.com and Sports Illustrated have launched a partnership this last weekend that will involve sharing video, news and photography on their respective Web sites.
What the deal involves is NBCSports.com's high-speed Internet video clips which will now be featured on the Sports Illustrated SI.com Web site.
What SI.com will bring to the mix will be sending viewers to NBCSports.com clips showing up-to-date news, updates, and post-game interviews. There will also be segments that update viewers on the weekends.
"Both sites will point to the other site's content," said Sports Illustrated spokesman Rick McCabe. "If you're on SI.com, and there is an appropriate piece of video that we're aware of, something that would tailor well, it would be set up as a link to that story from SI.com."
This is something that smaller online marketers need to take note of. There are a lot of ways to promote and cross-promote our businesses. This is another example of the benefit of forming partnerships and deals that benefit both parties. It doesn't only have to include video either, it can be done through an endless amount of creative ways that make both partners happy with the results.
Forming partnerships and joint ventures are excellent ways to increase profits and exposure. The major thing to keep in mind is that they should be compatible products, services or Web sites that would be of interest to both businesses' visitors.
