Traditional media companies continue to increase their exposure outside the YouTube (GOOG) world by making deals with their competitors.
NBC (GE) has done that through their recent deal with Vmix.com, a broadband technology company which operates in a similar fashion as YouTube.
The major difference is that VMIX has committed to protect copyrighted material from being uploaded to their site than YouTube has. They include technology filters along with human screeners to battle against the practice. In other words they're actively pursuing it and not simply waiting for someone to ask them to take them down.
The new channel will feature a number of clips from shows like "My Name Is Earl, Heroes, 30 Rock and Late Night with Conan O'Brien ... among others.
NBC said that it will also create online-only promotions related to their shows. The first one they've created is called "Zeroes," which is a spoof of Heroes where it shows a bunch of people that have no abilities of any use.
