Lego recently announced that it had developed a working relationship with NetDevil for the purpose of developing a massively multiplayer online gaming experience for its base of dedicated fans.
It's the second time in the last few days that a big company has made this type of announcement, as Sony recently said that they are building a massively multiplayer online virtual game for its Playstation 3 users as well.
"As children around the world continue to spend more time online we are developing new and engaging ways for them to interact with our brand," said Lisbeth Valther Pallesen, Executive Vice President, Community, Education and Direct Division LEGO Group. "The LEGO brand represents construction, creativity and problem solving - values that compliment the MMOG market."
The way the children interact with legos and the value added from the experience, I think this could be a highly successful project. The only question I have is if this particular age group will connect to this experience as other age groups do. To me it's something they did have to try.
NetDevil is a game developer that specialized in MMOGs.
