YouTube (GOOG) has entered into a deal with Digital Music Group, which will bring over 4,000 hours of video content to the site, according to Reuters, citing a Wall Street Journal article.
Included with the content will be old classic television shows like Gumby and I Spy.
The content will be ad-supported with Digital Music receiving a piece of the revenue from the ads, which of course means that the content can be viewed for free. The specifics of the agreement weren't released. Digital Music is a distributor of independently owned films, music and television shows.
As part of the deal, YouTube will institute a filtering system that will identify if and when music that Digital Music has the rights for are being used without the company's authorization in users' videos they create.
