In an interesting announcement, Yahoo (YHOO) confirmed that they were going to introduce a new concept by putting a singing news anchor on their site.
A Yahoo spokesman described the personality as "Woody Guthrie meets Hunter S. Thompson."
"This project will create an entirely new kind of news beat, so stay tuned," said Scott Moore, head of news and information at Yahoo, in a statement issued by the company. "All I can say for now is that this reporter will leave you tapping your feet."
The company is keeping information close to their chests, but they did say that the news anchor will be a journalist as well as a musician.
Yahoo added that they'll obviously be focusing on the lighter side of news, and not be "singing" about tragedies and war. They also said that this isn't a shift of the focus of the company from serious news, but will continue to offer that as well.
