
The boom in online video viewing has created all sorts of opportunities for independent producers to monetize their creations. There are an increasing number of companies that offer the chance to monetize your work if that's the direction you are looking to take in your online marketing.
There are a number of things to think about when you're looking at doing this. First of all, nothing changes in marketing, including video. It's best to develop a niche and focus on that when you create your video offerings. Still, if you aren't ready for that, there are some companies that will take anything you have to offer. To me that's a tough route to go because you won't make a name in the same way you can in a niche.
For example, Brightcove offers people the chance to monetize any content as they don't really have any restrictions. But they also don't provide marketing support in the sense of promoting your work. You must do that yourself. They also cater to people with more of a library than a couple of videos sitting around.
Another site is Metacafe, which looks for humorous videos, with a strong emphasis on short clips of your pets. They are one of the more visited video sites with 20 million visitors a month.
The idea is that numerous sites require and look for different things. Some are more platforms with ads while others choose if your offering will be accepted.
