
Online retail sales for the fourth quarter of 2006 totaled $29.3 billion, an increase of 6.3 percent over the third quarter of the same year, estimates from the Census Bureau of the Department of Commerce revealed.
The numbers include seasonal, holiday and trading-day adjustments, although not pricing changes.
The total for the fourth quarter was an increase of 24.6 percent from the last quarter of 2005. The sales in the quarter also represented 3.0 percent of the overall retail sales which are figured to be around $990.8 billion, down about 0.2 percent from the third quarter of 2006.
For all of 2006, there was an estimated $108.7 billion in online retail sales, an overall increase of 23.5 percent over 2005.
The online retail commerce for all retail sales in the U.S. for 2006 was 2.8 percent of the total, an increase from 2.4 percent in 2005.
