The ex-wife of the great soccer star Ronaldo, model Daniela Cicarelli, sued YouTube (GOOG) in Brazilian court concerning a sexually explicit video of her and her boyfriend that was posted on the site.
As a result of the law suit, the court ordered the site to shut down until it removed the celebrity sex video from its site. For a number of days it was the most popular video in Brazil.
The case has been going on for a few months now. With no results the couple filed a third lawsuit that asked for the site to be shut down until they complied. The court honored that request. They have also asked for $116,000 a day for every day that the video is posted on the site.
Although they did respond and take down some of the videos, users continually uploaded them again. This is of course a problem that YouTube and Google will have to eventually solve.
Legal analysts say that it may be that it will be hard to enforce the decision because of YouTube being based in the U.S.
