In the continuing topsy turvy world of internet advertising, the figures during the last several months seem to change every week as a new study comes out and gives their numbers.
The latest numbers to come out are from the highly respected TNS Media Intelligence, who just released their ad spend forecast for 2007.
The report concludes that display advertsing for the Internet will grow by 13.4 percent over 2006, far faster than the 2.6 percent projected for all media taken
together.
It their conclusions come to pass, it will be down a few percent from last years total of 17.9 percent growth for the first nine months of the year.
TNS added that they believe the Web will take a 7.2 market share of all ad spend this year. But when you include search in the mix, it surges to over 28 percent of the total spend across all media, according to other research companies.
"The shift to digital media is due to more fragmentation," said Steven Fredericks, president and CEO of TNS Media Intelligence. "[Advertisers] get more effectiveness out of their ad dollars, [which] can go a longer way. It's cheaper to advertise on digital than traditional media."
While overall ad spend will grow by only 2.6 percent, it will reach a record-setting total of around $153.7 billion.
