When Steve Case bought Wisdom TV in 2005, he changed the name to Lime TV and rebranded it as a health and lifestyle channel. But with no growth emerging from its original 7 million homes, his Revolution Living company, the parent of the network, has decided to shut the network down at the end of February.
CEO C.J. Kettler said that the company will now focus on cable video-on-demand and broadband as its strategy. The company has already been producing multiplatform content for satellite radio, mobile phones and broadband.
Kettler was quick to add that they're not walking away from the cable business, but rather are repositioning, focusing on a free or subscription-based VOD model.
They are currently offering free VOD content on Insight Communications, Mediacom Communications and other smaller cable companies. We’re not trying to walk away from the cable business at all. We care very deeply about the cable business,” Kettler said.
The new Lime broadband programming will retain the health and lifestyle theme, including series on nutrition, food, environment and health and wellness.
