Photobucket, the popular photo-hosting Web site, has been growing quietly as it says it has now reached its 30 millionth user.
The site hosts over 15 million vistors a month with 80,000 new users a day being added. And they're doing something a lot of the hyped companies aren't: making money. The majority of the revenue they generate is from their advertising model. They have also secured $14 million in venture capital.
One report says that they have a 70 percent penetration rate on MySpace through their hosted photos and graphics that are then linked to various online communities and blogs.
Similar to other social-networking sites, Photobucket is gradually starting to trend toward users in the 35-40 age group. "A lot of them have kids. Scrapbooking is huge -Two Peas in a Bucket is seeing a lot of traffic," says CEO Alex Welch.
Rumors are that they may be thinking of taking the company public.
