
A report filed by Internet technology firm Scene7 revealed that the majority of e-commerce sites have plans to increase rich media into their internet strategy, with their major focus being on high-quality visuals.
Scene7 asked 65 online and multi-channel retailers what their plans were for rich media. About 70 percent said that they are currently using it or have plans to use it in the near future.
Some of the types of rich media they want to use is features that allow a customer to zoom in and enabling them to look at a product from different angles.
Companies that used rich media said that "zoom, visual product configuration, color swatching, and online monogramming as "effective" or "very effective" in
generating purchases."
When merchants asked their customers about the effectiveness of these enhancement, every one of the features were considered effective by over 70 percent of those responding.
