
Attempting to increase the reach of their popular chicken snack wrap, McDonalds (MCD) has initiated a promotion on YouTube (GOOG) that will offer people making videos an opportunity of have their creation put on YouTube's home page for a day.
This product is an extension of the snack wrap, which will include a new honey-mustard offering that can either be grilled or crispy.
The fast-food company is calling the campaign "It's Your Break." It is basically a talent search on YouTube which says McDonalds "...is not a contest or sweepstakes. There is nothing special people can do to be considered. This is an effort to honor the YouTube community and the millions of talented video directors that aren't afraid to share their talent with the world."
Details aren't clear, but it seems that the company will search around the YouTube video site and make a decision on who they want to promote.
Awareness of the contest is being made through promotions on the YouTube home page, along with McDonald's Snack Wrap Channel, and the usual search, banner and link pages.
The winner will have their video shown in the Participatory Video Unit spot which is regularly used by advertisers.
