A spokesman for Lycos said that their Lycos Cinema launch has been extremely successful since its debut in November. Their users spend a whopping 74 minutes per user session according the company.
One of the things they're doing to add to their service is to increase their episodes of "City Sessions," created to showcase indie and new music acts. Viewers are
also able to chat online while they watch the various films and shows.
They will soon offering, probably by March, moderated chat sessions with certain artists when they are on the site while one watches their "City Sessions" episodes.
One article mentions that "The 30-minute "City Sessions" videos are produced by a subsidiary of World Digital Media Group, a music and digital content company formed by RadioShack (RSH), EchoStar Communications (DISH), Sirius Satellite Radio (SIRI) and CC Entertainment."
Lycos Cinema uses pre- and post-roll ads to monetize the site. Most last under 15 seconds.
