The First Ad Copy Weapon of Choice - The Headline - 29
A great way to get people interested in what you have to say is in lists. While it still works great, like anything else that is used so much, people develop a resistance to it when they read it. There's also the habit of seeing a number and glancing past it.
When you use something a little different in your headline that still offers a list, but in a way that doesn't look like a list, it has a much better chance of being looked at and responded to.
Keeping that in mind, when it comes to avoiding difficulties and unknown problems, people are always looking for tips on avoiding them and not having to learn through experience and frustration.
A great headline built for that reason is one that promises several ways of seeing these things before they happen. It is written this way:
Do You Recognize the ... Early Warning Signs of ...?
You see a lot of this headline when you read about health prevention issues, but can be used to generate interest in just about anything that you want to be able to prevent.
Here's several headlines and subjects you could use it with:
Do You Recognize the 5 Early Warning Signs of Stroke?
Do You Recognize the 8 Early Warning Signs of Gambling Addiction?
Do You Recognize the 3 Early Warning Signs of Online Gaming Fever?
You can see from the last one that it can be done with humor and draws someone in that can identify with what you're saying. With gaming fever it would probably be another gaming experience that is being offered to encourage the reader to participate in.
The question form makes the reader ask the question along with you and prompts them to read to get the answer.
