Responding to a growing demand for ads connected with or to video, ValueClick Inc., the No. 2 Internet ad network, announced that it now will offer a new video ad-serving system that will allow ads to run before and after videos, and also within banners.
John Ellis, vice president, product management at ValueClick Media says that, "A lot of our competitors got into the video ad space by acquiring other companies,
we've integrated video into our existing platform so that on Day 1, advertisers can take full advantage of this."
ValueClick also said that about 25% of the publishers they serve are already offering video, and by the first quarter of 2007, that should reach about 50% of the network they serve.
With video being the fastest-growing segment of online advertising, it's forcing companies to offer services that reflect that reality.
We do have to keep in balance that fact that fastest-growing can make it look like it's surging ahead of other means of advertising, and that's far from the case. Nevertheless, it is something we all need to keep a close look at as it becomes a larger part of our advertising strategies.
