News Corp.(NWS-A), with the help of MySpace, has taken over 1st place from Yahoo (YHOO) as the most viewed web site in the U.S.
Citing comScore Media Metrix data, the Fox Interactive unit said that their page viewing rose from 38.7 billion in October to 39.5 billion in November.
At the same time, Yahoo, which had 41.6 billion in October, dropped to 38.1 billion in November. Coming in third was Microsoft (MSFT), which also fell from October's 19.3 million views to November's 17.9 million.
Yahoo was quick to repond by saying that they had more viewers in spite of News Corp.'s page views. They also said that visitors stayed on Yahoo's site longer than News Corp.'s, while also having many more ads.
Fox Interactive added that the main driver was of course MySpace, which had a 200% year-over-year growth in page views. Their video gaming site also grew strongly in views from Sony Corp.'s (SNE) release of their new game console, along with Nintendo's new offering.
From Yahoo's perspective, they still were the big leader in unique visitors, taking in 129.9 million in comparison with MySpace's 57.2 million.
