Founder of Napster, Shawn Fanning, is reportedly working on a new "virtual social community for online gamers," that he plans on releasing in the near future, says Gamespot.com citing BusinessWeek Online.
His first target is the popular role-playing game World of Warcraft. In it he plans on taking the existing data in the WOW site, and then publishing them on a personalized page. Also planned will be the ability to instant message one another while playing and organizing of playing time and progress in their respective guilds with their online friends.
The site will have a community sharing feature as well, with the ability to share real personal information between players if they want to.
Fanning got the idea when he encountered problems communicating with other players in WOW himself.
The new service will be called "Rupture," and will use an ad model as its means of monetization.
