Microsoft (MSFT) revealed that it is entering into the digitizing of the world books, a challenge directly aimed at Google (GOOG) who has set as their goal in this space to digitize all the books in the world.
Microsoft project director Cliff Guren says, "With this initial release we've focused on making the reading experience as natural as possible.
"The U.S. beta launch of Live Search Books is a big step forward in advancing the way people discover information through the integration of content that has been off-limits to the traditional search experience, until now."
Included in the initial launch will a lot of books that are out of copyright, and works from a number of universities and Libraries around the world.
Google is of course back on track with this project and has been going strong since it started it up again several months ago.
