Provide Reader with a sense of URGENCY
A good headline will provide the reader with a sense of urgency. We all need to remember that we are somewhat lethargic when it comes to doing things. We all need that little push that gets us to do something. This is the type of urgency that we need to create in our headlines.
How many times have you read, "Only two more days..." or "If you are one of the first 100..." These are simple tools to get people to take action. Of course there has to be integrity in the urgency message. If you say someone has to do one thing to get something special, you need to stop at the number you give. No. 101 needs to really miss out on the benefit of signing up early.
Deadlines are one of the key tools in the urgency area. There can be all sorts of ways of setting them, like was shown above. It can be time related, number related, reward related etc. The point is that it definitely works with people.
Anything that makes people understand that they will miss out if they don't take action is a winner.
Making them understand that their life will be better when they use what you offer is another means of creating a sense of urgency. This makes them think about going another day without bettering their lives. Many people hate to defer their gratification, which is why this technique works so well.
