Google, in an effort to shore up its foray into the mobile phone business, has gotten together with telecommunications operator 'Orange,' owned by France Telecom, to discuss a partnership to enhance mobile telephone users' web search experience, according to The Observer of London. It would be a multi-billion dollar deal if it goes through.
Executives from Orange flew into Silicon Valley to engage in preliminary talks at Google's headquarters.
What the major focus of the two companies entails is producing a branded Google phone, which should include the Orange logo as well. As of now, the thought will be to create a phone with a video iPod look to it.
HTC, a Taiwanese business that centers on smart phones and PDAs is being looked
to for the manufacturing side of the product.
The phone would include Google software built into it, which would increase the speed of web surfing exponentially from the mobile handset, the article said.
