A new report by Hitwise says that 82 percent of the overall visits to the top 20 online communities went to MySpace in September, a statistic that shows it increasing in visitor share.
Of course statistics have to be kept in balance as MySpace has also dropped in visitors at the same time.
Nonetheless, online communities are growing tremendously, as one in every twenty Internet visits is to social sites, the report says.
Other social networking sites that have had huge gains in visitors are Bolt, Bebo, and Orkut.
The study also confirmed that these sites are becoming significant traffic generators. One example is in reference to shopping sites that receive 2.4 percent of their traffic from MySpace in September; that's an 83 percent increase from March.
Photo sharing communities are also increasing significantly as Photobucket grew by 43 percent from March to September, Flickr by 49 percent.
