
JVC is jumping on the consumer-generated media bandwagon as they now inviting consumers to "Create Our Commercial," in their new campaign to promote their Everio hard drive camcorder product line.
They are soliciting users to submit their 30- to 60- second videos that promote JVC's image.
"Obviously, consumer-generated media and online video and sharing sites are huge. But the appeal for us is that this is actually a great way to use our product," says Karl Bearnarth, senior vice president, JVC. "With the Everio, all a customer needs to do is use the camera, and we provide the software to drag and drop video."
JVC has gotten together with the video-sharing site VMIX to host the videos and give visitors the opportunity to vote or leave comments on the video.
It's good to see JVC take this chance to experiment and see where it goes, as others have been fighting giving up power to consumers. This should be a good fit for them.
