An In-depth Look at Niche Marketing - 5

Two ways to Look at Niches

Assuming that you've discovered the area or areas of interest that you can serve, it's at this point that you have to consider a couple of things about niches.

First, there are niches that aren't being served at all. This is an area that's harder to find because there is just about anything on the internet that can be found. Don't be discouraged if the area you're interested in has people in it already; that doesn't mean it's being properly served. But if you can find a niche that isn't being served, it's a great find indeed.

Second, is the areas that are filled with all sorts of pretenders, but is vastly underserved. This is why there is always business opportunities everywhere.

Niche%20Choices.jpgIt is in this second area that you have the greatest opportunity to succeed. The reason why is that there are so few people that truly serve people or consumers great. I was reading that among all the companies that exist in the world, there are only about 1,000 that are considered great. Think of that! This spells opportunity for those willing to grab the prize.

So for most of us looking to start an online business, we'll be looking for something that already exists, but isn't being served very good. You're not trying to begin from scratch, for the most part, but to improve upon something that is already out there.

The reason to bring this up is because many people get confused when they find some businesses already serving what they're interested in. Don't be. Just don't copy what's already being done because then all you're doing is offering the same thing. Somewhere in your mix, you've got to offer something that makes you stand out and differentiate from your competitors.
