Dealing with the Temptation of Perfectionism

How do you market to the people that you know would want your product, and are being underserved in the marketplace? That's the question that can stump marketers; even ones that have been around for a long time.

The two pressures that work within you is that you've discovered lacks in what your potential competition is offering your customers, and as a result you've created something that brings to a higher level.

But at that point you begin to question and doubt yourself because you start to wonder if your product is good enough. Don't let this paralyze you into inaction. The major thing is to make sure that what you're offering is better than what anybody else is offering.

If you don't put your product or service out there when it's good, you'll eventually begin to second-guess and tinker with it to the place where you never offer it, or your competition improves on what they've been offering and now have something compatible to your quality.

When you develop something that you know is good, of course there will come a time when you'll want to improve upon it. Any good company has that desire. But to expect perfection in your product will only cause you to fail, or never enjoy or have confidence in what you've made to serve people.

That's why we all solicit customer feedback so that we that we can find even more things that they may want from what we sell, and then we add it to it or build something better. It's always a process.

Whatever you do, don't allow an obsession with creating the perfect item be the difference between your launching off and taking the healthy risk that all niche marketers must be willing to take.
