What about the people that employ the other strategy we talked about in marketing to niches, without really being passionate about them, or necessarily having a desire to interact with the community? Is this still a business model to follow?
There are two reasons to get involved in online niche marketing in this way. One, you've got to get something up quick and going. You don't have the backup money to get you through the time it will take to pursue a long-term niche that you can really get into.
How do you know if this is you? Ask yourself how fast you need the money. Now don't just answer the question in a way that says everybody could use money now. That will miss the point of the exercise. I'm talking about some type of deep need or situation that may force you to have to sacrifice engagement and satisfaction for practicality.
One thing that the great majority of people say that have money, is that it is not the defining factor of happiness. Even if you have to go about it this way, look to the future once you get this off the ground, and plan for the one niche that you really want to live in that connects to your business desires.
The second reason to get into niche businesses like this? To flip them. You have no intention from the beginning to build out a long-term business, but your love is to start businesses and then to sell them to someone who does have that desire. There's absolutely nothing wrong with that if it's your passion.
Your niche, in this case, is the startup part of getting businesses birthed and going. It's what moves you. It's similar to people that do this in real estate. They buy a house, and in some cases don't even fix it up, but just turn around and sell it; sometimes on the same day or simultaneously.
If you hate the thought of the day-to-day running of an online business and all the details that are involved, this might be the way for you to go.
