With the inclusion of Hollywood studios having a stake in YouTube now, the question has to be asked about what they will now become.
Now with Universal Music Group, BMG Music Entertainment, and the Warner Music Group now having stakes in the company, everything is about to change.
With the lowering of the possibilities of litigation from these three big companies, it brings in unseen benefits right away. One benefit is that the companies have started suing their rivals such as Grouper and Bolt, citing copyright infringements. This will possibly make YouTube even more attractive.
What could change the company completely is their agreement to upgrade its blocking technology to prevent copyright material from being used. Without people using music in their videos, what will YouTube be if it's not allowed? They just got rid of 30,000 clips this week alone.
With MySpace already becoming a much older demographic than it used to be, it's quite possible that YouTube may go the same way.
Is that good of bad? I guess it depends upon who you are. If they change the site so much that it goes completely another direction, there is no way of knowing if it'll succeed or not. Do you think it can survive with this change of direction?
