A key thing that we need to remind ourselves about all the time when we're in marketing, business, or sales, is to continue mining our existing customers for information.
John Jantsch from Duct Tape Marketing recently talked about this very thing. He said:
"One of the most overlooked ways to find avenues for your ads is to ask your existing clients what they read or watch, where they get
their information about the products and services they buy. You'll likely uncover the usual suspects, but you may find a new resource or two as well. Many niche industries have trade publications that may not be household names."
The key I want to zero in on is the asking question part of this. Our customers are our business. It is within them that the answers to successful online marketing depend.
One of the great determining factors in marketing to them is knowing what they want. All of this is obvious, but we tend to forget this in some of the most obvious, simple ways: asking them!
In my experience, I have found that people you do business with or sell things to, don't mind at all being asked for their input concerning what they like and prefer. That's a hint in understanding people - they love to talk about themselves.
So in whatever way you keep in contact with your online customers, never be afraid to ask them what they need and want. This is sometimes so overlooked, that it misses the whole reason for being in business: to serve your customers.
Learning and reminding yourselve to ask for their input is more important than most marketers realize. Don't hesistate to ask.
