Going Viral and not becoming a One Hit Wonder

With the video-viral craze showing no signs of slowing down, we need to understand better what it is that this implies for us as marketers; this isn't just in video, but in any area where there is a potential for interest in what we offer.

Here's the one thing that is crucial to building lasting success with the viral craze: make sure once you get them, that you hold them. Obvious, right? Here's how to do it.

The major key in understanding how to keep people as fans once they discover you is in the depth, not the width of what you are. One secret is that we must understand that once people get an interest in you and develop a trust, they want a piece of everything you have to one hit wonder.jpgoffer. You must have it ready to offer.

In the case of bands or music hopefuls, it's not enough to just have an interesting video that captures the eyeballs of people and give them a great, but temporary laugh. You must have more depth than a one-hit wonder. Remember that this is an example of any area of marketing.

Many people are caught off guard when something they've done goes viral and they have nothing else to offer those they temporarily connect with. When you put something out there, assume it will gather a lot of interest, and have things in place for people to be able to explore much more about you.

Think of the tremendous popularity of special effects and added scenes or in-depth looks at movies that are made. People will buy DVDs for this reason alone. They love to know everything about the actors and things that happened while the movie was being produced.

This is something that can be done through websites, emails or a number of methods that get people wanting to explore and stay focused on who or what your company or people in it are. Go deep and you'll be able to build a business that lasts, and not just become an Internet one hit wonder.
