ne of the greatest mistakes that online marketers make in relationship to affiliate programs, is to develop the strategy of promoting the program itself, rather than the products within it.
What usually happens is that a marketer will join a two-tier affiliate program and simply create a landing page where they try to get people to join the program. This isn't the best way to successfully build an online affiliate business.
The way that I've grown my affiliate programs is in promoting the heck out of the products that made up the program; not the program itself. If you promote the program itself, as a way to get people to sign up, you'll just be duplicating the old multi-level marketing scheme at attracting people without there being something to sell and make commissions on.
When I say this, I'm not saying that there isn't something to sell, rather that the way you promote it encourages those that sign up under you to do the same type of promotion. If all everybody does is get people to sign up without promoting the products or services involved, it will not bring in much money for anybody.
Affiliate marketing is getting tougher and tougher. Everybody is going around trying to get everybody to sign up under them without really showing the great value of the product involved in the program. Begin to promote the product and you'll see your profits and quality of recruits increasing greatly.
This is one way that you can differentiate between you and your numerous competitors.
