In great news for online marketers that provide content to attract advertisers, it has been shown that internet ad spend is the fastest growing segment of the market.
The total ad spend came to $72.98 billion; a gain of 4.1 percent over last year during the same period according to a TNS Media Intelligence report.
Excluding search, internet ad spending grew to $4.69 billion, almost 19 percent over the first six months of 2005. This is an increase of 5.6 percent over last year.
Telecommunications and Financial Services were the two biggest sectors in the spend.
The news for online content providers and user-generated content keeps getting better, as expected. This will go on for a number of years before it starts leveling off. The only thing to watch for is if there is a downturn in the economy which has a strong effect upon marketing spend. Other than something pretty drastic, this will be a strong space to be in for a long time.
