Citing an article in the Wall Street Journal, Biz Report reported that 40 bloggers have received press passes from IMG, the firm that operates the fashion week in New York.
The fashion industry, for the first time is taking notice of the value that fashion bloggers are adding to the industry; they are beginning to understand the marketing opportunity that bloggers and their readers offer.
With the potential for viral marketing taking off through the blogging community and gatekeepers, the small designers are especially embracing the medium as a low cost way of getting attention.
The article in the Journal added that public relations companies are now hiring full time employees to search out the blogosphere to find out what impact the community is having upon the company's
reputation, marketing and sales.
This may be a time for online marketers in various spaces to take a look at public relations companies and possibly start sending them some of their own work and URLs to help the public relation companies to "discover" them.
