
In the online marketing world, the biggest problem many people have is in choosing what they want to promote or market.
The problem with online business is that it is extremely cheap and fast to be able to create a product or service to offer to customers. The issue that comes about from this is that many people adapt an offering, work it for a little while, and then bounce to the next offering. This is done over and over again.
So what's to keep anybody from bouncing from one thing to the next over and over again? How can you bring yourself under discipline and not be a follower of the "next big thing" junkie?
The answer is to know what it is you're after. What are you trying to accomplish? What are you deeply interested in? Does the thing being presented to you fit in with your overall business strategy? Will it complement what you're currently doing? Will your existing customers have an interest in this?
The thing to keep in mind is that there is a market for almost anything; it's just a matter of finding where that market hangs out at. To run after every new thing is a recipe for disaster as you'll not only waste money buying into it, without ever building it into a business, but you'll go through the emotional upheaval that comes from this over and over again! There is only so much of this that you can do before you burn out of give up. Once that happens, it is hard to pull yourself back up again.
Another indispensable ingredient in the mix is that you must write out what your plan is for doing business. What business are you in? What is your demographic? What do they want or need? How can you meet those wants or needs?
What this does is puts checks and balances on what you decide to enter into concerning products or services. That which doesn't fit into your business plan, you simply reject and don't get tempted to implement. That way all of the ad copy that tries to get you to buy, has an objective filter that you can apply to every circumstance. This will help to keep you from endlessly chasing something that doesn't fit in with your business goals.
