With the proliferation and talk about social-networking and Web 2.0, it is easy to forget the powerful forerunners of this trend, and leave using them to follow the crowd.
What I am specifically talking about is forums. It is one of those powerful online communities and tools that has been around from almost the beginning of the Web. We hear a lot of talk about discussion being a part of Web 2.0, but the truth is that it has been around for years. Before them there was the bulletin boards and newsgroups.
The point is that forums, especially, are still going strong, and are one of the best ways to promote your online business that there is available.
A number of marketers I've talked to or read about concerning their numbers coming from interacting in forums, say that around half of their traffic can come from this strategy. That's a lot of traffic! And along with that traffic comes sales.
Like everything else in business, there are good forums and bad forums. Dale King lists a few of his favorites here, and comments on their value to him and others.
Forums have had a tremendous staying power and have proved to be a powerful marketing tool. Don't neglect them as new ways of communicating and discussing are becoming available. They haven't diminished in their importance at all.
Here are some of the good ones available according to Dale:

I have personally "lurked" in the Warrior forum and have found a lot of good stuff there.
