Microsoft (MSFT) is offering a beta version of a new blogging software as an addition to its new Windows Live service. Although it's created to get people to try out their Windows Live Spaces, it will still work with Blogger, LiveJournal, TypePad, WordPress, and many others, according to the site.
It is a true WYSIWYG authoring tool that will enable users to see exactly what it will look like before they publish. For the most part all you've got to do is write and do a little formatting as you perform your job.
One function that I like is the ability to insert a Windows Live Local map directly into a post. For certain types of blogs, this could offer a real neat addition to the story or area you may be writing about. The only possible downside to this is if everybody starts doing it all over their blogs and it becomes more of a commodity, rather than a unique addition to your story. Still it offers some good possibilities.
