
Google ended its long run of 11 straight months of growing share in the online search arena. Their share of search in July dropped 1 percent, according to comscore. On the other hand, their closest rivals all gained some during the month.
In spite of this, Google (GOOG) still maintains a healthy lead in search share with 43.7 percent of all U.S. searches. Yahoo (YHOO) gained for the second month in a row coming in at 28.8 percent of U.S. searches. Microsoft (MSFT) continues in third place with 12.8 percent of the searches. The Time-Warner/AOL (TWX) group finished with 5.9 percent and Ask also showed a little gain coming in at 5.4 percent.
Concerning toolbar searches, Google and Yahoo are still completely dominating the field with Google being first with 50.3 percent and Yahoo close behind with 46.2 percent of U.S. toolbar searches.
The complete U.S. search market dropped 2 percent in June, which is expected during the summer months. Total search volume for July increased by 30 percent over July 2005.
