Now that all the research has shown that online advertising is going to explode for years to come and the use of rich media has the highest retention rate for consumers, there is one thing that is keeping it from quickly being adopted: there is a worker shortage in the area. There aren't enough people who know how to "create, sell and measure internet advertising," according to the Financial Times.
The reason I bring this up is because it presents an extraordinary opportunity for those interested in this area to make a lot of money serving this need.
Those interested in this would need to put together a team of people with the obvious skills. The major problem to overcome is the integration of the three skills needed to make this work for companies. This wouldn't necessarily need to be an employee-based business, but could be outsourced as well. You'd have to be the management company and connecting point between all the parties if you outsource.
Those that can create internet advertising with the new realities in mind will be huge winners. Here are the three things that must be mastered to make this work:
1. You must be able to make the types of online video commercials that engage consumers without being considered an interruption.
2. There must be included someone who knows how to market the service, which would of course be imperative for growth. They would not only need to know how to sell, but to be able to sell into the user-generated market; which is where the majority of need is at this time.
3. Last, you would have to be able to accurately measure all the variables that a marketing company would need to be able to show the results of the campaign.
Seem to simple? It's not. If it was there wouldn't be such a shortage of people able to do it. If you can put together a team that could bring all of this together, you couldn't even begin to keep up with the work that is available right now.
