After pushing for six years, Boeing (BA) has called it quits and cancelled its in-flight broadband internet access. The reason, according to Boeing is that there isn't much demand for the service.
The service, called Connexion, will cost the company $320 million to shut down. This will be a one-time expense.
Boeing's Chief executive Jim McNerney, explains, "Over the last six years, we have invested substantial time, resources and technology in Connexion by Boeing.
"Regrettably, the market for this service has not materialized as had been expected."
The 550 plus employees connected to the service will be offered jobs in other parts of the company.
Evidently, this is one place where people don't want to stay connected.
