An unidentified source revealed that AOL has fired chief technology officer (CTO) Maureen Govern and two other employees concerning the debacle surrounding revealing private search terms of over 650,000 users on a public web site, according to an AFP report via Breitbart.com. Over 20 million keyword searches were accidentally posted.
According to the anonymous source, Govern is being replaced at this time by John McKinley, who is AOL's president for digital services.
The Time Warner (TWX) division's chief executive, Jonathan Miller said in a memo:
"I wanted to let you know that Maureen Govern, our chief technology officer, has decided to leave AOL effective immediately. We've asked John McKinley to step back in as CTO, and he has graciously
accepted."
"We've put together a four-part plan that is being implemented immediately and which we believe will further enhance our privacy policy and practices," Miller added.

Dismissing the employess directly related is one thing, but can the CTO be held responsible for actions she may have known nothing about?
I must say, though, some of these search queries are hilarious - "how to tell the wife about affair"
