13 ways to fight the recent Google AdWords changes - Part 3

In understanding what it is that Google (GOOG) has done and why, here are some steps you can take to make your page more friendly toward AdWords:

1. This one isn't specifically hard, as all you have to do is ensure the ad is linked to the specific information about the product or service that is mentioned in the ad.

2. The landing page must be connected to the keywords you use in your ad text.

3. Another big thing they're checking on is whether you require someone to register or sign up for something in order to access your information. One way to help in this area would be to either don't require registering to get the information, or give a good description of what the visitor will receive if they do register.

4. They also want you to make it clear on the difference between your regular content and what are sponsored links. They don't want you attempting to hide what the links really are.

5. If you do have ads on your landing page, it will help you if you include relevant content with it. Pages with only directories or catalogs would require the same thing.

One thing many marketers have taught and trained for years was concerning the making of web sites that have a lot of duplicate content under different names. This has made it easy to create a lot of sites fast to take advantage of advertising clicks. This is going to be hard to get away with anymore with AdWords.

6. You won't be able to have duplicate sites any longer, unless you want to play cat-and-mouse and do it until you're not able to afford it and move on to something else. To me this isn't a good idea if you're trying to build a business. It could work short-term if you're just trying to make some quick cash for other purposes; but that's a lot of work to do when you could do it right and not be concerned with getting away with something and how long it will last before you're caught.

7. Another unfortunate result of these changes is that marketers that use article directories will have to be careful because this is included in the above mentioned duplicate content problem. Using popular articles from these sites could result in being penalized if it is widely circulated on the web. Google wants not only content, but original content for its users.
