
A recent study by MSN Spaces revealed that over 25% of UK online users blog. Over 50% those (59%) use it as an online diary to share with the general population.
Some of the more written about topics are hobbies (28%), travel (17%) and news and world events (12%). About 20% said they wanted to have their voice heard and 18% said they did it to express their views on things they're passionate about. Only 6% blogged for campaign or political issues.
The study also showed that about 10% of UK read blogs for news on celebrities, with over two thirds of the readers preferring to read about the lives of ordinary people and their thoughts and feelings.
Some of the other major reasons people read blogs were for the latest in technology news (33%), up-to-date music (30%), news (28%), film (25%) and sports (19%).
