A recent research report by Credit Suisse revealed that online radio growth is exploding.
Credit Suisse analyst Michael Klim said, "We view the Internet as the primary 'new' distribution platform that radio operators could utilize to attract substantial incremental listeners."
The study showed that from June 2005 and June 2006, 12 of the top online radio sites had a growth of over 33 percent. The average visit in June of 2006 was for 13 minutes - a huge increase of four minutes over last year.
Demographics show that the majority of the online audience is young and male. Over 65 percent are between the ages of 18 and 49, and close to 60 percent are men.
If I was in radio, this is where I would be. Another thought for online marketers is to consider some type of streaming audio as a part of your strategy as it's in the minds and experience of so many Web users.
