With advertisers lined up to pay for online advertising through Google, a problem has arisen that offers opportunity and insight to online marketers. Google's problem is that it has more advertisers than they have top-notch inventory.
What's that mean? Google lacks quality content to put its advertisers ads on.
This is one of those areas where you need to ignore people who like to throw around slogans like "content is no longer king" and things like that. It is still king, and will always be. The definition of content may change in the sense of having more user-generated content than in-house created. But whether it is considered "amateur" or "professional," content is still content.
The point is that advertisers are craving online avenues to put their advertisements on. It has been reported that Google has more than a billion dollars in ad commitments that were unfulfilled because of low quality content inventory.
You don't have to be a YouTube or MySpace to cash in on this. High-quality niche sites will not only continue to have great success, but should grow in profitability tremendously in the online advertising world, which isn't able to supply the demand at this time.
