Video ads are becoming the next "big thing" as far as being talked about online and rolled out by big companies. Just because a video may be rolled out though, has no guarantee that it will become viral. Here's the reason why:
The Internet, if nothing else, is the best consumer friendly and democratic voting machine out there. What does that mean? The consumer is even more empowered to become the king. Nobody votes on something going viral except the consumer. It's all in their hands!
To misunderstand that is to misunderstand video advertising.
People that are hiring others to do their online video campaigns are starting to ask that there be a viral aspect added to their offering. In other words, they don't have a clue as to what is going on. Nobody can simply add or promise that something can go viral except the person watching it.
The only thing that someone can do is to create something based upon their best, current information, and offer something of value to those watching their video. In other works all you can do is give yourself a chance. Nothing more can be promised.
If you're a smaller marketer, consider doing something with the type of equipment used by regular people. They have already been socialized into seeing videos' of this type and quality. Include something of your product or service within in it in a compelling or fun way, and you'll give your offering a chance to make the rounds.
Just don't think that viral marketing is something you control. It's the consumer you votes on whether you're successful or not. Not you or some other company.
