Marketing Vox via mediapost reported that Universal McCann's forecaster, Bob Coen, has updated his ad spend estimates downward, except in the internet ad spending arena, where is has changed them to be higher than originally predicted.
Coen now says that internet ad spend, minus search - will get as high as $9.705 billion this year, a 25 percent increase over 2005.
Originally Coen said in December that online advertising spending would come to around $8.669 in 2006, which would be around 10 percent over 2005. The first quarter surged in online ad spending as it increased over 19 percent over the first quarter of last year according to Coen.
He added that online brands would increase their ad spending to $4.625 billion this year - 25 percent increase over last year's $3.7 billion, but still down from $5.597 billion from 2000.
