Performics, a division of DoubleClick, has released a Q1 Search Trend Report. According to the report, searches for general terms or categories have been diminishing as search based upon specific keywords has increased.
Some of the things the report found were not totally unknown. One key confirmation is that search engine marketing is as large as its ever been and growing. The cost and size of the campaigns are increasing. The ROI has been fantastic. Last and least surprising is that keywords and keyword phrases change from season to season.
It was also found that searchers are increasing the variety of keywords to find what they want.
Spending on search has increased by 37 percent over the first quarter of 2005. The report also said that about 30 percent of the majority of keywords were priced above fifty cents per click.
The number of clicks are up a huge 24 percent while there has been an increase in saled of a whopping 72 percent.
