According to the Pew Internet & American Life Project, close to 10% of Internet users are bloggers and their readership is growing quickly. Almost 40% of the 147 million adult internet users in the U.S. say that they read blogs.
A little more than half of of bloggers are under the age of 30 and have diverse ethnic backgrounds. The three main topics they write about are their own personal life and experiences, politics and entertainment. The great majority are new to writing and storytelling.
The findings came from a poll sampling of 4,573 Internet users and has a margin of error of plus or minus 2 percentage points.
These figures show that people that think that this is just a fad, or wish it would all just go away, aren't going to get their desires. We are still relatively in the early stages of this growing phenomenon with no end in sight.
