
One thing that us online marketers are apt to make is when we hear that one thing won't work, we will generally stop using it altogether and hop onto the next thing that's working.
Now this isn't necessarily bad, but we do need to be careful not to always throw everything away as they may still have some value and use.
This is the case when we consider text ads and graphical ads. Text ads today will always outpull graphical ads, but that doesn't mean that having banners on our sites is worthless.
As a matter of fact they are now being found to be great branding tools, just don't expect to get many clickthroughs on them.
We also never know what a particular banner ad that is done in a unique way may do also. We should never just throw a proven method away because everybody else is doing it.
Because people are familiar with banner ads, that familiarity can be used to our advantage when done right. Like I said, online marketers are finding out that they are great for being used to brand your business. Obviously, as of right now, text ads overall are the way to go. But there are a lot of rich media opportunities that are just beginning to be experimented with. Now when they start to work, don't start throwing all your text ads out, they'll still have a purpose in the long run.
Remember that there is never one thing that is it. It is the use of a variety of methods that brings success to the Internet marketer.
