The Alpha Marketer
One of the most misunderstood aspects of marketing or business success in any field, is the misunderstanding of setting deadlines.
We hear so many gurus telling people that they should fix a certain amount of money or whatever in their minds and than put a deadline up to when they want to achieve it. This really is a poor strategy and way of doing things.
What is happening there is that we end up focusing on the wrong things. Instead of focusing on the actions we need to take, we are focusing on the results that we want to achieve. There is nothing wrong with looking at results, it's setting deadlines of when you want them to happen that really throws inexperienced people for a loop.
The secret to deadlines is that you should set them for the actions you take, not the results you want to achieve. The area of actions to take it the place where you have control of. Results come from trying different things, measuring them and then adjusting as you learn. It is action that causes the eventual results.
Action is the thing that everyone has a hard time getting around to doing. It is fun to think of the end result of what you desire. The problem is that thinking about that without setting actionable deadlines, is only wishful thinking and really deceiving ourselves.
So when you know what you want, lay it aside and look at setting dates and deadlines for the actions you need to take to get there. The results will come when you focus on the actions.
