The Alpha Marketer
Taking into account almost all places you can get connected online to, the latest Harris Poll states that the number of adults getting connected to the Internet are now at an estimated 172 million in the U.S., a five percent increase over last year.
The Harris Poll figures that this is around 77 percent of the U.S. adult population is now online, compared to 74 percent in February/April of 2005, and way up from 57 percent in 2000. Harris added that in contrast to 1995 when they first started tracking online use, only nine percent of adults were online.
The study concludes that as the use of the Internet by adults increases Internet users are beginning to mirror the overall demographic of the nation.
Still, at this stage in time, there are still more younger users than older users, as well as higher income people versus low-income people online users.
